The Neighborhood
The Back Bay is an upscale residential, retail and commercial office district and is considered Boston’s premier neighborhood with condominium homes regularly selling for millions of dollars. Popular shopping destinations include Newbury Street & Boylston Street as well as the Prudential Center and Copley Place malls.
Architecturally, the neighborhood is dominated by Victorian brownstone buildings. Also it is home to some of Boston's tallest skyscrapers and most luxurious full-service condominium buildings.
Served by MBTA Green Line subway and numerous bus routes, many starting in Copley Square. Walking distance to downtown & financial district, Fenway Park, Faneuil Hall, BU, MIT, Northeastern, Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory, Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, Berklee School of Music, Emerson College, Cutler-Majestic Theatre, Shubert Theatre, Opera House, Citi-Wang Center... and Beacon Hill & the North End.
The Street & Building
Marlborough Street, with its brick sidewalks, treescape & charming street lamps, is the "quiet" Back Bay street that is favored by so many.
All the buildings in the neighborhood were built in the late 19th century. The 365 Marlborough building — Romanesque Revival style — was converted to condos in the 1980s. The brick front & brick construction are typical for the area. The condo association is professionally managed.
